KATU Portland is quietly previewing its community sites, which we reported on last month. The sites, part of a rollout across multiple Fisher stations, will feature blogs with content from KATU reporters and contributing users, as well as forums and classifieds, plus listings for restaurants, events, businesses and real estate.
The Portland areas receiving their own sites include the city center, the four quadrants and North Portland. Also listed is East Portland, which, as far as we can tell, stopped existing in 1891 when it and the city of Albina merged into Portland proper.
A total of 28 local areas are listed, including Portland suburbs and cities in Southwest Washington from Beaverton, Gresham and Vancouver, to Sherwood, Orchards and Felida.
KVAL is also planning community sites in the Eugene area.
UPDATE (9/3, 1:46pm): Kathleen McDade, who edits ParkroseGateway.com, informs us in the comments that East Portland is now considered the area between 82nd Avenue and Gresham.
UPDATE (9/3, 6:26pm): As a commenter points out, the sites have been taken down. They're now "coming soon." You can still see very similar sites from KOMO in Seattle.
