Clearly Alpha Broadcasting had no intention of keeping anything local. Portland is highly demanding of local product, and this move goes against everything this market deems necessary. Bringing in butt-rock DJ's from out-of-town = epic FAIL.

Looking at the KUFO website is creepy now, like going into a dead person's house.

Somehow. I hope. Cort & Fatboy are enterprising young men and I'm sure we'll be hearing from them, too. I hope. Damn I hate this business. I love the medium, but hate the business.

Donkey Show Rocks!

Here's the scenario I think happened. Alpha approached Ricker at KISW in Seattle about the morning show. They must have wanted him very badly because they hired this guy Ditch to be the P.D. and, as I recall, I think Ricker and Ditch are buddies. They worked together for two years at KISW that's for sure. So Ricker, who's had conflicts with bosses before, not only gets the KUFO morning gig but he also handpicks a P.D. who takes over afternoons. In the process a P.D., morning show and afternoon show get blown out. Wow.

To the owners of KUFO portland... I was a dedicated listener... and will no longer be listening. Dead air isn't my forte even a radio show without a host plays music and what you have done to me and many portland listeners is completely uncalled for. I also take note to the aboved mentioned stations which you own... I won't be listening to those either.

Cort & Fatboy are arrogant...

I've seen the way they handle themselves, and how they deal with their guests.

I was at Best Buy a few months ago, and a few local bands were to perform publically there.

The local bands were supposed to be performing first, followed by Cort & Fatboy's band, last.

After the first band performed, Cort & Fatboy decided they didn't want to hang around to wait for the other bands, so they decided to play next, at the last minute, screwing up all the other local bands' schedules, without regard, without a care.

Not too professional of a stunt to pull, and they didn't even apologize to anybody.

Needless to say, no tears from me about them bein' let go. All the members of all the local bands were a bit peeved too, as a couple of them didn't get to even play, as they had to prepare for gigs they had later that day at other locations; they'd have had no issues had they been able to perform when originally scheduled...

I fully agree. There was no explanation, just a frustrating robot voice and NO info on the website about what was going on. I will just stick with 94.7 myself, I've been listening all weekend and also this morning and I
appreciate hearing music not talking anyway. That alien voice stunt angered me to a point I will no longer listen to 101. Poor choice kufo, a loop of music would have saved you from losing me as a listener.

Why would anyone listen to the radio for music? Music radio is AWFUL!

I love The Rick Emerson Show more than life itself but there is no way I could listen live. I've been strictly downloading the show after all of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, "Rape Me", and the rest of the crap has been removed.

F Music radio. Bring the show back to AM where the played The Murder City Devils and Roger Clyne if and/when they felt like doing so. Let them shoot the [?] for 45 minutes before taking a single commercial break. And more "watches"!

I liked Cort and Fat Boy too but it wasn't must-listen for me. Hopefully they land on their feet as well though.

KUFO was and has been crap in my opinion ever since they got rid of Boczyk (sp?) Marconi was decent AFTER they got rid of Christine Levine, Cort and Fatboy was awful, etc. Rick Emerson was decent to listen to. Nothing that would make me want to tune in every single day, but then again it's far from being a terrible program.

KUFO definitely needs a re-format. They were trying way too hard to be like 94.7 anyways, what with their constant barrage of 90's-era "buzz bands" (i.e. Offspring, Eve 6, Sublime, etc) at any given time of the day. I certainly hope they start playing some good music, keep it varied, and don't just copy and paste other stations playlists like they were doing before. I had barely even been listening to FM radio as of late, except for maybe Mark & Brian on 92.3. If I could get a clearer signal of 101.5, I'd DEFINITELY listen to that more often.

And like EVERYONE ELSE, I completely agree that this new BS with the 3 solid days of "the mothership is refueling in t-minus..." is horrendous. Honestly KUFO, the least you could do is play SOME music, instead of basically playing a looped message every 7 seconds saying the station is being re-formatted. I don't want to speak too soon, but I'd say that the decision to get rid of the radio shows and personalities people liked, followed by the 3 solid days of Microsoft Sam, is a bit of an ill omen. Do you want to listen to Microsoft Sam say "the mothership...." every 7 seconds? Then maybe you're not gonna want to listen to KUFO once this re-format crap is over. Then again, none of you even know what will happen, what music they will play, what shows will be on, etc. I'll decide on Wednesday, when I get to listen to something besides Microsoft Sam.

I guess we'll wake up with this guy Kidd Chris. If we do we know that Ricker refuses to get up at 4 AM. So be it. He will do the gig eventually. It's another revolving door. It's a Ditch/Ricker station now so you better get some numbers right away dude. It ain't Kansas or Philly in these parts.

Damn I wish I could get a job while sitting on the beach for 18 months. Philly to Portland! Well good luck. It's Portland which is kinda like a foreign country or something... have fun relating and such..

Well I tuned in at 7am this morning and found myself actually enjoying KUFO. I dont like talk show that talk instead of play music portland has to many of them. So my morning commute was great. I just hope the 7am to 3pm will stay with more music and less talk as time goes on. However, I am waiting the 3pm hour, I am so hoping that Ricker is worth the Headache. I am going to miss Cort and Fat boy the most so I am hoping Ricker is worth is 2 cents to be decent for my evening commute. I am VERY dissapointed that KUFO is bringing back Marconi/Macaroni. He is worthless and needs to change his name and voice. Its a good thing he is on after 7pm. That way I can listen to the great music the KUFO is now putting on and not have to listen to a peice of sh^t DJ that has no talent. Hell replace Marconi with Cort and Fat Boy for the evening show.

Hey Ricker, play some Night Ranger and be happy, now you got a whole new town to troll for new 19 year-old chicks who don't know yet that you are a douche and twice as old as them. They'll figfure you out, now "get after it", word.
