The site of the former American Can Company in the Village of Fairport continues to prosper.
D1 Training is slated to open soon at the Parce Avenue facility. The new state-of-the-art sports training center will feature the same synthetic turf and weights used by professional and collegiate sports teams for elite athlete training. The center will offer locker rooms, retail centers and multiple seating options for viewing the action.
D1 Training is a franchise with more than 50 operating locations and another 150 facilities in development. It’s a place to train for the dedicated athlete.
Empire Commercial Construction, a retail-specific company of the general contractor Taylor–The Builders, is completing construction of the new D1 Training location at the redeveloped century-old factory building in the Village of Fairport that once held the American Can Company.
The factory site has a long history. The Gottfried Krueger Brewing Co. of Newark, New Jersey, introduced the first can of beer in 1935, using cans from the American Can Company. The factory closed in the 1990s. In recent years, new businesses inside the old factory include Iron Smoke Distillery and Triphammer Bierwerks.
Empire and Interior Architects teamed for design and construction of the 7,600-square-foot interior build-out at D!, which is located at 25 Parce Ave. It is expected to open this fall.
D1 Training was founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew. Based in Nashville, the company began franchising in 2016.
