Founded in June 2009 by Mitch Nolan, Oregon Media Central is dedicated to fair coverage of the media in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

OMC is indebted to the outstanding prior work of two people. The first is the pseudonymous PDXMediaWatcher, who ran the blog PDX Media Insider in 2005 before leaving both the blog and the industry. PMI showed us that there was a real need for a place to learn about and discuss what was happening in local media.

Then there is Lynn Siprelle. Lynn picked up from where PMI left off and went beyond. Lynn used her technical knowledge, media connections and persistent effort to develop Oregon Media Insiders. Newsrooms read news about their own shops on OMI before memos were ever sent. In some cases, memos were never sent; only OMI would tell what happened. But for several reasons, including a buildup of negative comments and a shift in priorities, Lynn decided to take the site down. We wish all the best for her and thank her for her work.
