Green Business Partnership Honors 6 Organizations
The Green Business Partnership (GBP), a sustainability certification program founded by the Business Council of Westchester in partnership with Westchester County and Green Team Spirit LLC, recently honored 6 organizations at the 10th Annual Green Business Partnership Awards.

The awards were given in the categories that the Green Business Partnership identifies as part of its certification process, and one in honor of the late Charlie Brown, a visionary green business leader that demonstrated a true commitment to sustainability as founder and CEO of C.W. Brown in Armonk (now LeChase Construction). The event was sponsored by the Building and Realty Institute of Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region, Suburban Carting, Westmed Medical Group, D.P. Wolff Inc., JP McHale Pest Management LLC, In Better Words Marketing, Buzz Potential, and Jill Singer Graphics.

“We at the Partnership believe that sustainable business should be the global standard in order to ensure that all people and communities everywhere have equitable access to a safe, clean, healthy and nourishing environment,” said Dani Glaser, GBP Program Director and owner of Green Team Spirit LLC. “Our role in that global vision is to accelerate sustainable business by engaging, educating and empowering organizational leaders and staff to make meaningful and measurable changes. Our honorees have and continue to work hard to be part of the solution, protecting our planet and resources for future generations and reducing costs and positively engaging employees along the way. We have a lot to celebrate.”

Cerebral Palsy of Westchester in Rye Brook provides essential educational services, direct services, vocational training, recreation, rehabilitation and advocacy to children and adults with all developmental disabilities including autism, neurological impairments, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. The school received the Energy Award because sustainability initiatives, energy projects and green practices are integrated into operations and curriculum, and a large number of individual projects have significantly reduced overall energy use.

Westmed Medical Group is a multispecialty medical practice staffed by a team of 500 physicians and advanced care providers and 1,500 clinical employees in 13 office locations throughout Westchester and Fairfield counties. They received the Waste Management & Green Products Award for embracing technology, like the Viking Pure Solutions systems which eliminate the need to purchase hundreds of individual plastic bottles of cleaner and sanitizer each month, and recycling efforts, including approximately 2,000 pounds of plastic each year.

Saratoga Springs Pubic Library received the Transportation Award for helping the Saratoga Springs community deal with parking and traffic challenges and modeling green alternatives to driving by encouraging staff to bike or walk to work when possible and participating in the Bike to Work Day Challenge each year.

Regeneron, based in Tarrytown, is a leading science and technology company delivering life-transforming medicines for serious diseases. Regeneron received the Land Use & Water Award for consistent and effective efforts to reduce water usage and its company-wide goal to improve water efficiencies by implementing a global water mapping strategy and water stewardship program by 2025.
