Honor for CEO, PR certification, new board member at Red Cross

For a second year in a row, Teri A. Hansen, president and CEO of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, was named one of Florida Trend Magazine’s Florida 500, a recognition that highlights the most influential executives in different economic sectors throughout the state.

Hansen joins a dozen philanthropic leaders positively impacting the lives of children and families in their communities. Under her leadership, Barancik Foundation became a major catalyst for improving the lives of the less fortunate in Sarasota County and beyond – spearheading work like First 1,000 Days, Here4Youth Mental Health Initiative and COVID-19 response efforts.

Previously, Hansen transformed Gulf Coast Community Foundation into a regional philanthropic powerhouse that awarded more than $200 million in grants during her 13-year tenure. Hansen earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Diego State University and served as a public affairs officer in the Air Force. She also completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.


Melanie Reda, of the Central West Coast chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, recently earned professional certification in public relations, receiving the designation of Certified Public Relations Counselor.

Reda joins an elite group of about 125 practitioners in Florida who have demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and advanced consultation skills in the practice of public relations.

Reda has worked in agencies and corporate marketing departments for more than 25 years. She is currently an account executive at KSC, Inc., a strategic communications agency, in Sarasota.

Reda began her career in marketing and public relations by interning at Walt Disney World and at a PR agency that specialized in the comic book industry.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s in journalism and mass communication and a concentration in public relations.

She has been a member of the Florida Public Relations Association since 2010, holding multiple positions on the board of the Central West Coast chapter. Most recently, she began her term as president-elect of the chapter.

To be eligible for the Certified Public Relations Counselor designation, candidates must have achieved Accreditation in Public Relations through the Universal Accreditation Board and have at least 10 years of PR experience.


Intercoastal Medical Group has added internal medicine physician Nataly Bruk, MD, to its Hyde Park East Internal & Family Medicine practice.

Dr. Bruk received her undergraduate degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. She earned a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica, West Indies, and completed her residency in internal medicine at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York.

Dr. Bruk obtained a Master of Business Administration from Keller University Graduate School of Management in Downers Grove, Illinois.

She is board eligible with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Intercoastal Medical Group is a professional association of more than 100 physicians in more than 20 specialties, serving Sarasota and Manatee counties with multiple locations.


Amanda R. Kison, an attorney at the law firm of Bentley and Bruning, has recently joined the board of the American Red Cross of Southwest Florida, serving Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Manatee and Sarasota counties. 

The internationally acclaimed organization is part of the world’s largest volunteer network and is found in nearly 200 countries around the world.  By mobilizing volunteer and donors, The American Red Cross works to prevent human suffering in the face of emergencies, supports military families, supports the blood supply and provides community training.

According to Kison, among her main responsibilities will be to serve as an ambassador for the local chapter.

Kison has been practicing law for nearly a decade, concentrating her practice in the area of commercial litigation involving business and real estate disputes. 


Tony Blasini, vice president of employee benefits at Caldwell Trust Co., has earned the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor designation. The CPFA was developed by some of the nation’s leading advisers and retirement plan experts.

Blasini, who is based in the company’s Venice headquarters, has been with Caldwell Trust since 2017.

He has been certified as a Certified Pension Consultant since 2000 by the American Society of Pension Actuaries, and as a Qualified Pension Administrator since 1998 by the American Society of Pension Actuaries. 

His work with retirement and pension plans has involved plan design, sales and administration, implementation, document review for legal compliance and educational meetings for plan participants.

He previously worked for Orlando-based United Retirement Plan Consultants since 2011 as vice president and regional sales director.

Caldwell Trust Co. is an independent trust company with offices in Venice and Sarasota.
