To support our local small business owners, the City of New Ulm, through the work of the Economic Development Authority (EDA), are ramping up efforts for the rest of 2020 with the Small Business Development Center-South Central Office (SBDC). In September, the SBDC Consultant in City Hall resumes the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This consultant is available to advise on a variety of general business topics and can refer to others based upon need. These visits are scheduled ahead of time and confidentially held in the conference room on 2nd floor of City Hall.
In October, people interested in starting a business can take the Start-Up Smart Training on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. You’ll receive a basic understanding of getting a business off the ground and what resources are there to help.
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, a session about the basic legal aspects in starting and operating a business will be discussed. An attorney from Blethen/Berens will explore the difference in business legal structures and how to protect your business with trademarks, copyrights and registrations. This session will be virtual through Zoom and live from noon to 1:30 p.m.
